Eden Dim Sum City Restaurant

Eden Dim Sum City Restaurant @ Bandar Menjalara

Eden Dim Sum City restaurant in Bandar Menjalara is a popular place to go for good dim sum in Kepong. I stumbled upon this dim sum restaurant one day when I was driving aimlessly looking for a place to have breakfast. The large crowd even well after breakfast time was an indication that Eden should be pretty good.

dim sum

It was one of the most expensive dim sum breakfast I ever had - RM30. My own mistake actually, I didn’t ask for the price before taking all the expensive stuff, lol.

Sake Room Fusion Cuisine

Sake Room Fusion Cuisine @ Seberang Jaya

Sake Room is a fusion restaurant in Seberang Jaya recommended by Mabel Lai for good sushi. As always I would try out my readers’ recommendations whenever possible and blog about it. If you didn’t know, fusion cuisine is a combination of different forms of cookery or traditions. It can be of a combination of Chinese and Japanese cuisine or Western and Vietnamese cuisine. The possible combinations are totally up to the chef’s creativity and culinary skill.

salmon donburi

So, there’s more than just Japanese food being offered in Sake Room. But who would pay RM16 to try a plate of Chinese fried rice right? That’s pretty crazy lol. Ordering a Japanese set lunch would be more worth it. Each set lunch comes with a main course, green tea and miso soup. Salmon Donburi @ RM15 has a generous slice of fried salmon with teriyaki sauce and sesame seeds served on rice.

salmon donburi

Salmon lovers should not miss this because this dish is really good. Sweeter tasting sushi rice is used instead of white rice, which also contributed to the tastiness.

sushi bento

Sushi Bento @ RM16.90 has a variety of sushi served with stir fried vegetables, fresh salad and Gari (Japanese pickled gingers)

sushi bento

For sushi there’s Ebi (shrimp), Ika (squid), Salmon and some Ebi Fry Maki (those white ones) Honestly I never liked Japanese pickled gingers, they taste weird to me. Anyone shares the same opinion with me?

miso soup

Miso soup, it is definitely starting to grow on me. The more I have it, the more I like it.

sake room

Sake Room is a nice alternative for the usual Sakae Sushi or Sushi King. Moreover the price is quite reasonable for a Japanese set meal. And it is located just next to Sunway Carnival Mall, can try it after shopping, recommended.

CAFF Italian Fusion

CAFF Italian Fusion Restaurant @ Bandar Puteri Puchong

CAFF prides itself as the first Italian Fusion Restaurant in Puchong with their very own “Open-Kitchen”. This means that you can actually see the chef in action preparing your ordered food. Nothing is hidden and it draws the customers closer to the kitchen. CAFF serves a combination of Italian, Asian and Western menu to cater for local taste buds. Hence, the fusion concept. Established in 2005, CAFF serves mainly Pasta, Pizza and grilled food. I came to know CAFF through 8TV’s Hochak and the Oven Baked Escargot (snail) featured in the show gave me a deep impression on the restaurant.

italian fusion

The restaurant had a promotion going on where you could have 3 menu items at very cheap prices. The requirement is that you need to order a main course from the pizza, pasta or grilled menu. Each order will give you a selection: mushroom soup, iced lemon tea or ice cream at heavily discounted price.

mushroom soup

We ordered 2 mains. So, we chose mushroom soup (promotional price of RM2) for the starter and a glass of iced lemon tea (promotional price of RM2 too) FYI, ordering the mushroom soup via ala carte would cost RM5.90. So, it’s a discount of more than 50% - making it a really good deal. The mushroom soup tasted superb, it was very creamy and rich. Definitely recommended if you’re eligible for the promotional price.

oven baked escargots

Then came our 1/2 dozen Oven Baked Escargot @ RM15. Escargot is the French word for snail. They are mostly used in preparing French cuisine especially in appetizers. CAFF prepared the escargorts by baking them with garlic and cajun cream sauce, then topped with mozzarella cheese. To be honest, I was a bit disappointed with the dish. Although the snails’ texture was excellent, they were basically quite tasteless. The dish had to rely on the cheese and cream sauce very much for the flavor. However, I am really glad I fulfilled my curiosity about baked escargots! Having the experience of using a snail tong (to hold the shell) and a snail fork (to extract the meat) is great lol.

turkey ham special pizza

One of our mains was Turkey Ham Special Pizza. Because there were too many delicious pizzas to choose from, we took the waiter’s recommendation for this. The pizza was 10 inches in size and can serve 8 pieces. It was topped with honey mayonnaise, turkey ham, chicken ham and some pineapples. I enjoyed the pizza thorougly and I seriously consider it as one of the best pizzas I ever had. The toppings were wonderful and the pizza crust was super crunchy.. every bite makes a satisfying crunchy sound! Best of all it only costs RM15, way cheaper than Pizza Hut.

caesar salad

A small serving of Caesar Salad @ RM8 does not look small at all! The portion is quite huge and comes with generous amount of turkey ham as you can see. It’s made up of fresh romain lettuce in CAFF’s homemade Caesar dressing, topped with turkey ham, egg bacon bits and croutons. If you didn’t know, croutons are those crunchy bread like cubes. Before this I have never considered ordering salads before in restaurants. But after tasting CAFF’s Caesar Salad, I totally changed my mind. It’s very light, refreshing and tasty, another must have!

olio mushroom pasta

We also took the waiter’s recommendation for pasta, Olio Mushroom @ RM14. It’s a stir fry pasta with button mushroom and garlic. Sadly, it turned out that it was the worst dish among all. I don’t know why, but the pasta tasted really weird and bitter. Not sure if it’s due to the huge amount of mushroom used to prepare the pasta. I won’t even recommend this to a hardcore mushroom lover lol.
